Our Purpose

Methodist Village Senior Living Foundation was formed with the following purposes: To accept and receive, invest and manage gifts, legacies, and contributions covering both real and personal property for the benefit of Methodist Village Senior Living and its charitable operations. To strengthen and sustain community relations and fundraising efforts in support of Methodist Village Senior Living’s mission. To generate and maintain widespread charitable interest, involvement and investment in Methodist Village Senior Living. To educate and inform friends, grateful residents, loved ones, volunteers and the general public to promote awareness and recognition of the Foundation, its present work, and the programs and services of Methodist Village Senior Living, including its future plans and needs. To promote the welfare, sustainability and advancement of Methodist Village Senior Living, by assisting it financially through the encouragement of voluntary private gift support. And, to enhance understanding interaction, and cooperation within all areas of Methodist Village Senior Living, the Foundation and the greater Fort Smith, Arkansas community.

Methodist Village Senior Living is the sole beneficiary of all funds deposited, invested and managed by the Foundation.

Our Plan

In 2016 Methodist Village Senior Living announced the $50 million redevelopment of our campus to become a “Life Plan Community”. A Life Plan Community merges active senior living and planning for the future. It is an environment that offers senior adults a lifestyle with amenities and living options based on their life needs, in a continuum of care ranging from independent to assisted living, memory support, and skilled nursing care. The new community will be constructed in phases on our existing thirty-acre beautiful location in the heart of Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Phase I

A 26-residence Assisted Living Center and a 19-residence Memory Care Center (Certified Alzheimer’s Special Care Unit), with a wide range of amenities, including a chapel, gathering and social spaces, multi-use medical treatment center, restaurant-style dining options and a wellness center.

Phase II

Phase II was completed in June 2021 and included the addition of an enclosed connecting corridor between the Care Center and Assisted Living/ASCU to provide residents with easier access to visit their spouse, family and friends, and gives Assisted Living/ASCU residents access to additional inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. This phase also included the addition of Administrative Offices.

MVSL has been awarded a challenge grant from the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation. This challenge grant will help fund Phase II of our Legacy of Faith – Vision for the Future Campaign. The campaign’s strategic campus improvements and additions will ensure that MVSL can continue to live out its mission and accomplish its future vision. MVSL has raised $308,483 of the $770,000 budget. The challenge grant gives MVSL until January 22, 2022 to raise $307,517 of the remaining funds required to finish the project in cash and multi-year pledge commitments in order to receive the $154,000 challenge grant funding from the Mabee Foundation. The challenge grant marks the continuation of a relationship between the Mabee Foundation and MVSL. In 2017 MVSL received a challenge grant in the amount of $800,000 toward Phase I of the campaign, which was the addition of Assisted Living/Alzheimer’s Special Care Unit that opened in April 2019.

Our Progress

We are currently moving into planning and fundraising for Phase III.

Ground breaking for Phase I of our Life Plan Community was held in November 2017 and was completed in April 2019. In December of 2018 we completed a significant milestone in fundraising efforts by having raised $4.130 million, including achievement of a challenge grant from the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation. The total raised came from over 100 individual, corporate and foundation donors.

Ground breaking for Phase II of our Legacy of Faith – Vision for the Future Capital Campaign was in January 2021 and was completed in June 2021. Phase II included the addition of an enclosed connecting corridor between the Care Center and Assisted Living/ASCU to provide residents with easier access to visit their spouse, family and friends, and gives Assisted Living/ASCU residents access to additional inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services. This phase also included the addition of Administrative Offices.

Ground breaking for Phase III will be July 29, 2021.  Phase III will include exterior and interior renovations and expansion of our Care Center and the addition of a state-of-the-art training center.
