Emergency Child Care
MVSL employs 250 healthcare professionals on campus for 24-hour care of elders, the most vulnerable to COVID-19. Many of the MVSL staff had young children at home too due to schools and/or daycares being closed because of the pandemic. These staff members were faced with the crisis of how to care for their children and still be able to report to work and care for our residents. Due to the critical situation, we worked with DHS to expedite the process of retaining an emergency license to open the Child Care Center for our staff’s children. We also reached out to the community through social media and received in-kind and monetary contributions to help furnish the Child Care Center. We have not charged our staff for child care but some have made donations to help cover the costs.
